What’s more frustrating than a paper jam? It could be that the paper you are trying to print on is damp. The paper could be of low quality or not the type designed to be used with your specific printer. A printer jam can also occur when you load the paper incorrectly, or when there is dust and static present on the paper. Here are some very easy steps you can take to prevent this problem.

KEEP PAPER STORED IN A DRY ENVIRONMENT
Paper will absorb moisture, so it’s best to store your paper away in cupboards or away from places like kitchens, keeping paper in their moisture proof wrappers if possible.

DON’T OVERLOAD THE PAPER TRAY
Make sure you don’t over fill the paper tray capacity, it will prevent the feed from properly picking up each sheet of paper, thus causing paper jams.

AVOID LOW GRADE PAPER
Always use a good quality paper and paper weight as standard weight ideally is 80 gsm.

AVOID PUSHING THE PAPER TOO FAR INTO TRAY
It may sound simple, but you’ll be surprised how many times this happens and the paper is pushed too far into the tray it’s one of the most common causes of reoccurring paper jams in printers.

REMOVING JAMMED SHEETS
Carefully pull out paper sheets and scraps.

Check for paper sheets that are stuck or that have gone awry, as well as for scraps.

Pull the paper out of the path firmly, but carefully and slowly.

When possible, pull paper in the direction it is supposed to go in under normal conditions and take care to remove all of the paper.

Examine the device for any debris from previous jobs that will continue to cause issues.
