What goes wrong
Five common printer faults, and what each usually means
Several of these come down to wear, which printer servicing and maintenance is there to catch early.
- 01
Streaks, fading or marks on the page
A part inside has usually worn out.
The usual two are the drum, which puts the image on the page, and the fuser, which bonds the toner to the paper.
When that is the cause, the part is replaced.
- 02
Paper that jams or feeds crooked
The usual culprits are feed rollers that have worn smooth, paper that has taken on damp, or a tray guide set for a different sheet size.
If jams keep returning after you have ruled out the paper, a part has worn.
- 03
An error code on the panel
Read the code off the screen and tell us.
It often points to the likely part before anyone drives out.
- 04
The printer shows as offline
Most offline problems clear once the network connection is checked and the machine is restarted.
When a machine on a GDS lease will not come back online, a technician can often sort it out remotely, with no visit needed.
- 05
It is dead, or it restarts on its own
Turn the power off at the wall, wait a full minute, then switch it back on.
Call us if the fault comes back.
How it works
How a printer repair works
- 01
Tell us the model and the fault
You will find the model name on the front panel of the printer.
Add any error code from the panel, because it helps us find the cause faster.
- 02
We tell you what it needs
You hear back whether the fix is a visit, a replacement part or a different machine.
- 03
A technician attends
We aim for next day attendance wherever we can.
The technician sorts out what can be fixed while on site.
- 04
No bill for the repair on a GDS lease
The technician’s time, the travel and any parts are all paid for by the monthly figure you already have.

Repair or replace
When another repair stops making sense
Some printers are worth fixing, and some have printed their last good page.
Two things decide it: what has failed, and the page count already on the machine.
Give us those two facts and we will say which way the sums point, even if that means keeping the old printer going.
Where a new machine is the better call, a GDS lease rolls the toner, the parts, the labour, the call outs and every repair into one set monthly figure.
Lease pricing for a replacement begins at $160 a month (plus GST), then shifts with the machine you choose, the pages you print each month and how long the term runs.
Nothing renews automatically at the end of the term.
Our printer leasing on the Gold Coast page shows how the lease works.

Common questions
Printer repair questions we get asked
Do you repair printers on the Gold Coast?
Yes.
Our technicians attend Gold Coast offices from the GDS workshop at Bethania.
Machines on a GDS lease are covered, and for any other printer, call us and ask first.
How much does a printer repair cost?
The fault and the part set the price, so ring us about your printer and we will tell you where it stands.
Lease customers pay nothing for a repair, since the visit, the labour and the parts are part of the monthly figure.
How quickly can a technician attend?
Next day is the target, and we hit it wherever we can.
Heavier volume or multi site offices can have specific response targets written into their agreement.
What should I have ready before I call?
Three things: the model, the symptoms, and whatever code the screen is showing.
Do you repair Kyocera printers?
Kyocera is the brand we know best, and for a Kyocera that is not on a GDS lease, call us and ask first.
Should I repair or replace an old printer?
The fault and the number of pages already on the printer decide that.
With both in hand we can tell you which is the sounder spend.
Do you repair photocopiers too?
Yes.
Our copier repair service covers the scanner and document feeder faults a plain printer never has.
Can you look after the printer before it breaks?
Yes.
Planned servicing replaces worn parts when they fall due, before they fail.
Printer down right now?
Have the model and the symptoms ready when you ring.
The lines open at 8.30am and close at 7pm, Monday to Friday, Brisbane time.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
