Quick Fixes for Common Copier Problems

Most copier faults have a one minute fix.

Paper jams usually mean damp paper, so pull the ream out, put a fresh one in and try again before you call anyone.

Lines down the page usually mean the glass needs a clean.

The faults below are the ones we get called about most often, each with the first thing to try sitting underneath it, so you can work down the list before booking a service call.

Issue No. 1:
The most popular, paper jams.

Possible Solution:
Try adding a new ream of paper to see if the same problem persists.

Most of the time, moisture causes paper to jam.

If this does not work, let your manage print service know to arrange a service request.

Issue No. 2:
Prints have lines thru the page.

Possible Solution:
The document glass should be extremely clean.

When the glass in not maintained to its tip top cleanliness,
even a small speck from liquid paper could cause the line to show up.

If this does not work, let your manage print service know to arrange a service request.

Issue No. 3:
Prints are coming out blank on half of the copies.

Possible Solution:
All paper guides should be properly lined up in the trays.

This problem usually arises, when people are adding a new ream of paper, unaware that the guides move.

If this does not work, let your manage print service know to arrange a service request.

For anything a quick fix will not solve, use our expert printer repair services.

Regular Kyocera printer maintenance prevents most breakdowns.

Clean the document glass and set the paper guides properly.

And when a quick fix does not cut it, Kyocera trained technicians are a phone call away.

Copier faults you can fix before you call

Short, direct answers to what Australian businesses ask us most about this.

What are the most common copier faults?

Five faults account for most call outs in an Australian office.

Paper jams.

Faded or streaked output.

Scan to email failures.

Network drop outs.

Error codes on the panel.

My copier prints faded pages, what do I check first?

Check the toner level first.

Then run the drum refresh or calibration routine from the maintenance menu.

If the fade sits on one side of the page only, it is usually the drum or the transfer roller rather than the toner.

The copier will not connect to the network, what now?

Print the network status page from the panel.

Compare the IP address on it against what the print queue on the computer is pointing at.

A DHCP reassignment after a power cut is a common cause, and a reserved static address stops it repeating.

When should I stop troubleshooting and call a technician?

Call as soon as the panel shows a C series service code, the machine makes a grinding noise, or the same fault returns twice after a fix.

On a GDS all inclusive lease a covered call out costs nothing extra, so there is no reason to wait.

I would like to express my thanks for the excellent service I received from the service technician who resolved my jammed printer. His persistence and expertise resulted in the discovery of a tiny piece of torn paper that eluded discovery for nearly 30mins. This caused the printer to constantly trigger a jam error. The cost of the service was well worth the result. Many thanks, Anthony Torrens.
Response from the owner:Hi Anthony, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear that our technician was able to track down the tiny piece of paper causing the jam. Sometimes it's the smallest things that create the biggest headaches, and we're pleased their persistence and attention to detail got your printer back up and running. We really appreciate your kind words and your support of our business. If we can ever assist you again, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
